Strong partnerships with innovative companies
It is our pleasure to announce Bosch, QZabre, and Zurich Instrument as our Corporate Partners.
We are proud of the partnerships with our three Corporate Partners, all of them leaders in the exploration of quantum science and technology in their respective industries: Bosch, QZabre and Zurich Instruments.

Bosch has been conducting extensive research in quantum sensing for several years and established a new business unit aimed at commercializing quantum sensors. The ETH spin-off QZabre specializes in the development of quantum sensors based on nitrogen-vacancy centers that enable the imaging of magnetic fields and currents at the nanometer scale. Zurich Instruments is a test and measurement company based in Zurich and is part of the Rohde & Schwarz family. Zurich Instruments provides advanced tools for quantum research.

The aim of the Quantum Center Corporate Partnership program is to establish long-term partnerships that provide a bridge between academia and industry. These close links serve to foster innovation, share experience and knowledge, and encourage collaboration to solve challenging problems.

All of this is already happening with our three partners. We enjoy in-depth exchanges, tailored to each partnership, from which both sides benefit. For example, ETH Zurich graduates have found jobs with the partners, and the partners in turn have direct access to talent and the latest research from the vibrant environment of the Quantum Center and ETH Zurich in general, with its strong reputation for scientific excellence and innovation.

The Quantum Center's first Faculty Fellows
It was a pleasure having Prof. Shahal Ilani visiting the Quantum Center and we are already looking forward to our next academic guest Prof. Raffi Budakian.

Being the first recipient of our Quantum Center Faculty Fellowship Shahal Ilani from the Weizmann Institute of Science was as an academic guest in the group of Atac Imamolgu in August 2023.

Our second Faculty Fellow visiting us in October – November 2023 will be Raffi Budakian from the University of Waterloo (Inst. for Quantum Computing and Dept. of Physics and Astronomy). Raff Budakian will be hosted by Christian Degen and Alexander Eichler, and giving a Quantum Center Seminar on October 27, 2023 (Abstract) as well as a talk in the Zurich Physics Colloquium on November 8, 2023 (Abstract).

INSPIRE Potentials - Quantum Center Master Award (call 07/2023)
Congratulations to our awardees Lisa Appel and Petia Arabadjieva.

The award recognizes outstanding and highly motivated female students who are about to conduct their Master's thesis in one of the groups of the Quantum Center, ETH Zurich.

Lisa Appel is pursuing her Master's thesis in the Luisier group, with co-supervision by Rachel Grange, focusing on the quantum kinetics of photo-excited electrons and holes in 2D materials.
Petia Arabadjieva is conducting her Master’s thesis in the Renner group, where her research focuses on investigating efficient protocols for classical verification of quantum computations.

The next deadline for applications is January 15, 2024. Further information.

Upcoming events
Quantum Center Colloquium – November 27, 2023
We are looking forward to welcoming Markus Aspelmeyer from the University of Wien as speaker to this colloquium. His research focuses on the experimental and theoretical exploration of the boundaries of quantum physics and gravity. More information will follow here.

Quantum Center Career Lunch - December 11, 2023
Twice a year, the Quantum Center invites speakers to give insight into their careers aiming to inspire young researchers to shape their future. This time Gaia Donati from the Communication group of the Department of Physics will be our guest and speak about "Physics in words". More.
