Call for applications for the 'INSPIRE Potentials - Quantum Center Master Award'
INSPIRE Potentials
It is our pleasure to announce the first call for applications for the ‘INSPIRE Potentials - Quantum Center Master Award’. The application deadline is July 15, 2022.

The award is open to outstanding and highly motivated female students who will carry out a Master’s thesis in one of the 30 professorships associated with the Quantum Center. Awardees will receive 8’000 CHF and benefit from knowledge exchange and networking opportunities within the Quantum Center community. This award is a continuation of a very successful initiative created by NCCR QSIT in 2016 (website of the previous INSPIRE Potentials - QSIT Master Internship awardees).

Prof. Marina Krstic Marinkovic joins the Quantum Center
Prof. Marina Marinkovic
We are delighted to inform you that Prof. Marina Krstic Marinkovic, Assistant Professor of Computational Physics in the Department of Physics, is the newest member of the Quantum Center at ETH Zurich.

Marina Krstic Marinkovic conducts research in the field of computational quantum physics. In the past, she has developed numerical methods explaining the results of CERN experiments. Her software packages are now used throughout Europe for making calculations within the Standard Model of particle physics.

We look forward to welcoming her and her team at our upcoming events.

SNSF Advanced Grants for two Quantum Center members
SNSF Advanced Grants
Congratulations to the Quantum Center members Prof. Tilman Esslinger and Prof. Mathieu Luisier, who are among the 24 recipients of an SNSF Swiss National Science Foundation Advanced grant.

The SNSF Advanced Grants 2021 were launched as a transitional measure for researchers who were planning to apply for an ERC Advanced Grant in 2021, due to Switzerland's current status of non-associated third country in Horizon Europe. In total, 232 proposals have been submitted, of which 24 will be funded, six of them at ETH Zürich.

We are delighted that two of these grants of >2'000'000 CHF each are awarded for quantum research at ETH. More information about all supported proposals can be found here.

General Meeting at Schatzalp
Schatzalp
The first General Meeting of the Quantum Center will take place at Schatzalp, on the sunny side of Davos, from July 11 to 13, 2022.

We are looking forward to host 80 participants to this conference with 20 talks and an extended poster session. The event aims to bring together the member groups of the Quantum Center and is an excellent opportunity to showcase their quantum research. In addition, the conference features a panel discussion on the relation between academia and industry in quantum science and technology, and how the Quantum Center can position itself to foster initiatives connecting the two ends.
