HEST.PULSE (01/2021)
Dear reader

Welcome to the first newsletter HEST.PULSE of the Department of Health Sciences and Technology!

We are pleased to report from now on regularly on the most important news about the activities in our department. Department members receive this first edition automatically. All interested persons are welcome to subscribe as well.

We are spread over several locations and teach and research in different areas. We hope that HEST.PULSE will help us to know each other better and to understand what other teams and research groups are doing. This is even more important in times like these when we can hardly see each other.

Some content will be presented in German, some in English. We hope that you will find your way around and that you will enjoy reading HEST.PULSE!

Kind regards
Stephen J. Ferguson
Head of the Department of Health Sciences and Technology

James Mitchell Award for Excellence in Collaborative Science
The annual prize is given in remembrance of the late Professor James R. Mitchell (1971 - 2020), a pioneer in the healthy aging field, who conducted research at both Harvard University and ETH Zurich. The James Mitchell award honors an early career researcher who has fostered a groundbreaking collaborative research project in the fields of aging research, nutrition, metabolism, or related areas of health sciences.
We are pleased to announce the name of the first awardee of this prize: Dr. Gabriele Fontana, postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Toxicology. Gabriele Fontana will be awarded at a ceremony on 8 June which will be broadcast live from the Audimax. He will give a public talk about his latest research. Congratulations!
