Dear reader,
After decades of impressive progress, it is estimated that Covid-19 led to an increase in extreme poverty. The United Nations (UN) project that next year 224 million people will be in need for humanitarian assistance or protection: It is clear that the challenges remain huge.
The 17 UN-Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) are a call to action to create a just, prosperous, and sustainable future for all. Science and technology as well as tertiary education can play an important role in achieving them. In the Exhibition “Together for the Sustainable Development Goals” we brought the SDGs to the center of ETH Zurich. Visitors could learn about the UN SDGs and about ETH’s contribution to achieve them.
While the challenges are large, so are the opportunities. At ETH4D we use education, science, and technology to fight global poverty and to create a just, inclusive, and sustainable world. Thank you for supporting us in that mission. We are looking forward to continuing working with you in 2022 and beyond!
Stay healthy and have a wonderful holiday season,
Dr. Adina Rom Executive Director ETH4D
