Not just the flowers are breaking ground |
Spring is here and the NCCR DFAB is active. The NCCR DFAB team is developing a top-class programme of speakers, workshops and activities for International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) 2024, to be hosted at ETH Hönggerberg in August. The third Future of Construction Symposium will take place in Mendrisio in November, with a focus on “Making the Past Productive”. In addition, two design-build demonstrators are progressing rapidly: The Tor Alva is in production with pre-fabricated components being transported to Graubünden regularly, and a new collaborative project is to be built in Disentis, in collaboration with traditional timber builders from the region. |

Caschlatsch Digital Timber |
A new demonstrator is being planned by NCCR DFAB researchers and MAS ETH DFAB participants working on Digital Timber. The wooden frame construction will be built on a mountain outcrop above the Lukmanier pass in Disentis, where the Caschlatsch castle once stood. The project is not only intended to make a sculptural statement, but will also offer refuge and views for hikers. |
