LISTEN through their EYES : Stories from Rwandan biowaste workers

"A picture is worth a thousand words."

But who takes the picture? And who tells the story?

This exhibition presents pictures taken by workers from different biowaste innovations in Rwanda, in the context of a doctoral research on a SDC funded project called RUNRES. RUNRES seeks to recycle organic waste (from human, green, household waste) into fertilizers and animal feeds, thereby promoting circular bioeconomy.

This exhibition will take you through portraits - taken by the Rwandan workers themselves - where they represented positive and negative experiences linked to their employment in the biowaste economy in Rwanda. This audio guide (15-20 min) will provide you with: a) the information shared by the workers during an in-depth interview in Kinyarwanda (then translated in English), and b) contextual information on the following topics: circular economy, decent jobs, economic empowerment, gender equality, representing Africa, waste, and youth.
